After our in-person residency, 22 Bitcoin Dev Launchpad participants flew to bitcoin++! 🚀 We're very proud of them! 🔥 9/26 hackathon projects had our BDL participants, and 5/26 came from our broader community in Brazil (Casa21, BitDevs, past hackathons & other initiatives)

bitcoinfuzz now does differential fuzzing of LN impls (kudos to Maicom, E r i c k λ and team). It started with BOLT11 (invoice decode) and it just found an inconsistency when handling multiple fallback addresses!

Uma seed de 12 palavras tem 128 bits de entropia, ou seja, 2¹²⁸ combinações, um número gigantesco. Mesmo com computação quântica (algoritmo de Grover), o máximo que se conseguiria seria reduzir isso para 2⁶⁴ tentativas, ainda impraticável. Boa sorte. Mais fácil minerar.

All of the OP_RETURN drama just reinforces for me how few people actually understand how Bitcoin works at a fundamental level. Anyone telling you that you can filter out arbitrary data at the mempool policy level are either malicious or misinformed, it simply is not feasible.

Less than a year after writing his first Bitcoin code, Erick Cestari (E r i c k λ) has implemented differential fuzzing for LN implementations with Bitcoinfuzz, found and fixed bugs in LND, LDK, CLN, Eclair, and more, often upstreaming patches himself across different languages.

It still feels unreal that we trained a developer from zero technical Bitcoin knowledge to speaking at bitcoin++ about differential fuzzing of Lightning implementations in just about 10 months. Even more amazing is we’ve done it with several developers.
