How do I get one of those Kaggle GM hoodies?? 🙃

Someone once told me to stop wasting my time on Kaggle because it has no academic value. My answer: I don't care. I like Kaggle. It's fun (way more fun than research). I learn a lot. That's why I do it.

Radiology AI is nice. Charge patients for imaging, then keep their data. Sell that data to companies or use it to build your own models. Then, charge them again when you use these models to read their imaging.

Publishing a dataset is way more valuable than publishing a paper about how you trained a model on a dataset.

Just because I'm a radiology prelim doesn't mean I know how to read this MRI abdomen that we didn't really need to get

One issue with separate models for each minority group is that now you have to assign patients to groups and use the corresponding model. A lot of bias and assumptions go into assigning patients into groups.

99% sensitive, 99% specific model for finding with 10% prevalence has PPV of 91.7% = ~1 FP/12 predicted +. 5% prevalence, PPV 83.9% = ~1 FP/6 predicted +. 5% prev, 95% sens, 95% spec, PPV 50.0% = 1 FP/2 predicted +. Pre-test probability is important.
