Coming up to 5 years now that Fine Gael started to float later/staggered closing times with the electorate, as part of their then local election campaign. While taking all the follow-up credit and pats on the back for "coming soon" announcements. Yet, here we are. Still.

Not only has Simon Harris TD ordered silence on the licensing bill, that he himself voted for in Cabinet, he's undermining the work of many Govt Depts + groups who worked hard to push this as far as it is now. FGers in general must pressure their leader into action #giveusthenight

A survey for users of Irish nightclubs. Whether you're an owner, manager, worker, collective, promoter, performer, attendee etc, we would love your feedback. No head wreckers who haven't been in a club in 30 years, if ever. Thanks. Link: tinyurl.com/irishnightclub… #giveusthenight

Our Department of Justice first drafted the Sale of Alcohol Bill in 2005. This was at same time that the UK *Culture* Secretary Tessa Jowell reformed its licensing laws. Considering the now almost 20 yr delay to publish/enact this bill, who is most to blame?

We regret to say that this government has led us on, let us down and reneged on its word to reform licensing laws. As it stands, Fine Gael's big promise of change has been nothing more than 5+ years of talk

As nightlife continues to struggle badly, there's no even partially valid reason to delay the licensing bill any longer. Should be published and enacted as soon as possible. Micheál Martin Simon Harris TD Jim O'Callaghan TD Patrick O'Donovan rte.ie/news/health/20…

Great news, for many sectors, not least nightlife. Let's hope this is the last we hear of this, and that premiums can start to noticeably drop. The cost is still one of the top challenges for the operation of nightclubs.
