Good piece here by Ian Burrell - and really interesting idea from Jonathan Aspinwall to give #Newsnight some exposure in different times lots. BBC would be wise to do this, IMO - plenty of other programmes get some cross exposure and Derbyshire interviews amongst best at the Beeb

For all the politically-motivated and commercially-motivated attacks on the BBC its audiences are going up. 2024 was a bumper year and BBC iPlayer is winning in the UK streaming market

Very sad to hear of the passing of Group Captain John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway, the last known Battle of Britain pilot. His courage, and that of all RAF pilots, helped end WWII and secure our freedom. We will never forget their bravery and service. Thank you, John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway.

Very sad news indeed; "The Few" are all gone as John "Paddy" Hemingway, the last surviving pilot of the Battle of Britain dies aged 105. "He never felt that he was anything special. He thought the special ones were friends who never returned. He is back with his squadron"

Witkoff to Fox today: I trust Putin, Russia doesn’t want to go beyond the five regions of Ukraine it currently controls. Meanwhile Russia: Odesa and Kyiv are Russian cities and we need to get them back.
