Utterly bleak news on the eve of MPs' debate on assisted death. Another British woman has been killed in a Swiss death organisation - she had lost her daughter and was inspired by news stories on the woman who'd gone there grieving her son. Underlines how making death a 'normal'

I know first hand how unsafe safeguards look. In 2021, my mom was provided assisted suicide in Canada 4 hours after being released from a psych unit after a suicide attempt. She wasn’t terminal and we couldn’t stop it. The UK’s bill is just as dangerous as Canada’s law.

I called the MAiD coordination service from the psych ward and they knew it and still they proceeded with no pause at all. I honestly feel like a MAiD survivor. I fear for the UK.

Mental illness is not irremediable. Canadians with mental illness are already being euthanized in Canada but this bill would prevent Canadians from being euthanized if mental illness is their sole condition.

This is very disingenuous & misleading answer from Premier Eby. A leading expert in the condition has said called the decision "unconscionable" & is worried BC is setting precedent. The child's own physician also argues for ongoing funding.
