‘The introduction of paid parental leave in 2011 has increased employment of mothers with children aged under 5 by 74,245. This represents a direct economic benefit of $8.5 billion to GDP in 2021-22,’ @EconomistAnge & Impact Economics and Policy static1.squarespace.com/static/61e32e6…

The Impact Economics and Policy report looks at how the Activity Test for access to the child care subsidy is a barrier to female participation. Abolishing the test will improve access to early learning for children AND boost employment by almost 40,000 adding $4.5 billion to GDP. #IWD2023

"A new report by @EconomistAnge & Impact Economics and Policy shows: the activity test not only restricts hundreds of thousands of 🇦🇺children from accessing quality early learning, it also is locking many parents, mostly mothers, out of paid work," says Georgie Dent in our MR 👇🏽 #auspol

Instead, it acts as a barrier to women returning to work. New from Impact Economics and Policy @EconomistAnge: static1.squarespace.com/static/61e32e6… #auspol

Today's Impact Economics and Policy report supports our call for the removal of the childcare subsidy activity test. Doing so will help to improve access to quality early childhood education & care for all children, and support mothers to return to work. For every child, access to education.

New report by Impact Economics and Policy shows 🇦🇺 women have third lowest rates of participation in full-time work across OECD ➡️ Better Policies for Better Lives. We’re calling on the Federal Government to abolish the activity test & increase paid parental leave in the upcoming May Budget. static1.squarespace.com/static/61e32e6… #auspol
