I will be giving a talk titled "Fechner and Stevens can co-exist under Fisher's roof" at VSS (May 22nd, 14:30 EDT). The work is done with Lyndon Duong and Eero Simoncelli, and we proposed an alternative reconciliation between Fechner and Stevens that is consistent with physiology.

I’ll be at Thomas A Carlson in SF and excited to share my postdoc work tonight (8/25)! Poster #1145: A population receptive field modeling framework of sensory suppression in human visual cortex Come say hi :) #ccneuro22

Excited to share our new preprint led by Insub kim with Eline Kupers Garikoitz Lerma-Usabiaga; this is a major breakthrough using fMRI to estimate spatiotemporal receptive fields in visual degrees and milliseconds.

I’m not done presenting at #VSS2023 yet! Come check out my poster “Compressive spatiotemporal summation predicts simultaneous suppression in human visual cortex” with Insub kim and kalatwit on Sunday morning in the Pavilion visionsciences.org/presentation/?…

Today morning at #VSS2023 I'll be presenting my poster titled "Meaningful objects are privileged in working memory: Better incidental memory of recognizable relative to unrecognizable objects". Come chat with me about how meaningful features are represented in incidental memory!

If you want to use the onavg surface template in your own research, our official website contains step-by-step instructions and example code: feilong.github.io/tpl-onavg/ It was a great pleasure presenting this work VSS Meeting #vss2023 and thank you all for the feedback!

🚨New preprint alert! 🚨 Together w/ kalatwit & Insub kim, we used fMRI & population receptive field (pRF) models to understand what computations drive simultaneous suppression, a decades-old phenomenon in visual cortex. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Buckle up for a 🧵

It's out in Nature Communications! Representational drift in human visual cortex: nature.com/articles/s4146… With the amazing eli merriam. Tweeprint to follow - stay tuned!

Excited to share our new work spearheaded by Insub kim with Eline Kupers & Garikoitz Lerma-Usabiaga in which we developed a new empirical & computational framework for estimating spatiotemporal receptive fields in units of milliseconds and degrees with fMRI jneurosci.org/content/44/2/e…

Very excited to see this work out in the world! Insub kim did an excellent job spearheading this project, including doing thorough code checks, simulations, multiple fMRI experiments, and tackling many obstacles!

Congratulations Eline Kupers & Insub kim!!! So proud of this elegant & breakthrough work! FMRI and modeling spatiotemporal pRFs in degrees& ms resolved a 30-yr mystery of why cortical responses are suppressed to multiple stimuli seen at once.

RLHF is a popular method. It makes your human eval score better and Elo rating 🚀🚀. But really❓Your model might be “cheating” you! 😈😈 We show that LLMs can learn to mislead human evaluators via RLHF. 🧵below

Really excited to share the first project of my PhD with Stanford VPNL (stanfordvpnl.bsky.social), kalatwit , Dawn Finzi, and Justin Choo! I examined pRFs in high-level category-selective regions and how they develop in adolescence. 🧵Thread below & preprint up on biorxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
