Spoke to a great group at Clear Lake Bank & Trust this evening to provide an update on the #IowaAg economy, market development, water quality progress and more! Iowa Bankers are an asset to our ag and rural communities, providing needed capital and economic development opportunities

Credit unions’ privileged status as tax-exempt nonprofit organizations may have filled a market need during the Great Depression, but 90 years later, there is no longer a justification to subsidize these institutions. The latest from Scott Hodge: hubs.ly/Q02j7R9K0

“It’s clear credit unions no longer serve the underserved, and their original business model is not viable. They must act like banks to survive. It’s time to tax them as such.” Smart piece from Tax Foundation’s Scott Hodge.

New - Morning Consult survey conducted on behalf of ABA finds 9 in 10 Americans with a bank account say they are “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with their primary bank, and 96% rate their bank’s customer service as “excellent,” “very good” or “good." aba.social/48ZZf0q

As always, it was great to have Iowa Bankers in my office. We had the opportunity to discuss my ACRE Act, which would give our community banks and main street lenders much-needed flexibility to offer agricultural and home loans at affordable rates for #IA04 families and farmers.

“This rule harms banks, harms small businesses and harms families.” Thanks to Rep. Randy Feenstra for explaining how @CFPB’s Section 1071 rule will impact communities across rural America and for helping lead the fight in Congress to roll it back.
