The Iowa Highway Safety Patrol was established 90 years ago. In 1935, 59 patrolmen, 12 motorcycles and 37 Ford Tudor V8s hit the road. Later in the year the word ‘safety’ was dropped from the organization’s name. Today, we are known as the Iowa State Patrol.
