There is a time and a place to debate complex scientific evidence in criminal litigation. There is a time and a method for Lucy Letby to appeal. But blaming juries for verdicts you don’t personally agree with is an exercise which might call for a degree of caution and measure.

And if something has gone wrong? You can read into the process and work of the CCRC here: ccrc.gov.uk Will Lucy Letby succeed? I don’t know. Neither do you. Because we didn’t sit through the trial and we haven’t considered the entire appeal or any fresh evidence.

To put this into context, with a backlog of 60,000 cases we had witnesses and defendants in rape cases waiting 5 years for a trial. The government’s refusal to fund the system means that number will nearly be doubled. Justice has never been in such a critical state.
