We are shocked and saddened to hear the news of the sudden death of Archbishop Noël Treanor in Brussels this morning. The Tyholland native was Papal Nuncio to the EU, and previously Bishop of Down & Connor -. Ordained a priest of Clogher in 1976. May he rest in peace.

Archbishop Treanor will be greatly missed by many across the spectrum of Christian traditions in Ireland. He was a tremendous supporter of the work of Churches in Ireland. He always offered his time, knowledge, experience and kindness whenever asked. May he rest in peace.
