Ssegirinya was a rare breed of politician. He used wit, humor and charm to send perfectly strong political messages. He was unrelentingly joyful - even in his dying days. He was a true community leader and champion who relied on local solutions to local problems

BS! A seemingly normal arrest of any protestor is rarely such. This is my back and waist after a female Uganda Police Force officer- whose identity we’re still trying to establish- deliberately punched, pinched and scratched me during a peaceful march yesterday. #MarchAgainstImpunity

Speaking with PEPFAR implementers today in Mozambique, Haiti and Uganda: NOTHING has changed, the stop-work order is in full effect; life-saving HIV treatment for 20.6 million is being held hostage by Musk’s jackbooted thugs who have taken over foreign assistance, illegally.

If ‘patriotism’ is the answer, why don’t the Permanent Secretary and other top health officials work for free and redirect their hefty salaries to frontline health workers? A PS’s salary could pay 10+ community health workers. Funny how ‘patriotism’ always demands sacrifice from

Kizza Besigye is on hunger strike, detained illegally by a regime that fears his defiance more than it respects the law. This is not just an attack on him—it is an attack on every Ugandan who dares to demand justice. They think they can break his spirit, but they underestimate

I’m looking for a thinking partner; preferably a master’s in economics with great longitudinal study skills to embark on a writing project. They must have political economy analysis skills already. Please reach out if you’re the person. Ps: It’s paid 🙏🏽

Honestly, it's hard to believe that UGANDA's elite or supposed elite allow their children to go through this cruel, degrading and inhumane treatment after a majority of them experienced the same or worse. And, they are laying upwards of $1,000 for this cruel and inhuman treatment

February 16th honours a church leader who spoke out against human rights violations and corruption. The silence these days is deafening. #FreeKizzaBesigye

Happier days! It’s 3 months since ⁦Kifefe Kizza-Besigye⁩ was kidnapped in Nairobi. We missed him at Christmas and brought in the new year without him. He remains in captivity of President ⁦Yoweri K Museveni⁩ and his son, the army chief. We demand his release.

The Democratic Party needs a major transformation. It can no longer be a top-down, billionaire-funded, consultant-driven party. It must be a multi-generational, multi-racial working class party. In a time of growing oligarchy & authoritarianism, that’s the only path to victory.

Across Africa, people are pushed into precarious, exported, devalued labour and sold the dream of economic mobility. But who really benefits? And at whose expense? Leah Eryenyu’s paper in Feminist Africa asks the hard questions. 📘 Read: bit.ly/3Tu4S1r #LabourJustice
