Here is Trump's plan for immigration, which starts on "day one" —> end birthright citizenship —> bring back "muslim ban" —> mass deportations (with more family separations) —> block refugees —> potential end to DACA & deportation of undocumented kids motherjones.com/politics/2024/…

Trump’s agenda will have lasting impact, not only on immigrants who will directly bear the brunt of a heightened militarized immigration enforcement environment, but also on all Americans. Here's how: motherjones.com/politics/2024/…

Schedule F would reassign dozens of thousands of policy-related jobs, stripping career civil servants from employment protections and making it easier to fire them. Policies will be pushed through with less internal resistance from longtime employees. motherjones.com/politics/2024/…

NEW: Mother Jones reports that one of the men renditioned to El Salvador is Neri Alvarado, who was working in Dallas as a baker. An ICE agent told him they were questioning all men with tattoos. Neri has an AUTISM AWARENESS TATTOO in honor of his 15-year-old brother with autism.

A friend of Neri Alvarado, the young Venezuelan man with an autism awareness tattoo sent to El Salvador, shared this video from members of the swim club where he worked with neurodiverse children. It's in Spanish but I think the meaning should be clear to anyone.

ICYMI: Noah Lanard and I spoke with the relatives, friends, and lawyers of 10 Venezuelan men the Trump administration sent to El Salvador without due process. What they have in common? Tattoos. A rose, a hummingbird, a clock, an autism awareness ribbon. motherjones.com/politics/2025/…

Talked to Isabela Dias & Noah Lanard who have spoken to family members or friends of 10 people who have been sent to the El Salvador gulags. The number of Venezuelans who are totally innocent we sent there seems to be even greater than imagined. youtube.com/watch?v=iz4rVF…

Yet ANOTHER story of a Venezuelan man ripped away from his family in the U.S. because of his tattoos; a tattoo of a rose and a crown. That’s it. It’s been three weeks and his wife and kids have no idea what happened to him. Like others, El Salvador is holding him incommunicado.

New: Isabela Dias and I spoke to lawyers and a relative of Venezuelans at the Bluebonnet detention center in Texas at risk of imminent removal under the Alien Enemies Act—potentially to El Salvador. The relative says his family member is being falsely accused.

Dozens of Venezuelans at the Bluebonnet detention center in Texas are at risk of imminent removal under the Alien Enemies Act. One of them is Omar Cárdenas, whose relatives say is "completely and utterly innocent.” My latest with Noah Lanard: motherjones.com/politics/2025/…

NEW! Two weeks ago Trump was stopped from sending more people to be imprisoned in El Salvador. Now we're learning who they were — and the stories are OUTRAGEOUS. One guy was accused of being in TdA because of his tattoos, which include Pikachu, Toad, and Patrick from SpongeBob!

NEW: A DOJ notice encouraging immigrants to "self-deport' is being posted in immigration courts across the country and sent to lawyers, including when their clients have already won asylum. Attorneys say the notice is misleading and a "scare tactic." motherjones.com/politics/2025/…
