Following up on Anna Taylor's tweet, for Christian's paper: cell.com/current-biolog… We're looking to add some keen graduate, postdocs, and RA's to the team. Projects focused on claustrum, pain, unconsciousness, etc. Reach out to Anna or I if you are interested.

rdcu.be/dMdQ9 Excited and proud to see the final version of our manuscript out Nature Communications, describing a new lipid droplet reporter mouse, which allows staining-free fluorescent visualization of #LipidDroplets!! Check out how numerous they are in the brain!

In neurodegeneration, neurons release lipids that accumulate in glial LDs. In our latest spotlight article Trends Cell Biology, we highlight a study by Li et al. that reveals how the loss of neuronal AMPK activity increases lipid efflux, driving a proinflammatory state in microglia.

My first co-first author manuscript is out now in MBoC! 🥳Thanks to American Society for Cell Biology MBoC for selecting our image for the cover of the Oct 1 issue🤩 The Zanic Lab Vanderbilt School of Medicine Basic Sciences Vanderbilt Cell and Developmental Biology Vanderbilt Cell Imaging Shared Resource molbiolcell.org/doi/prev/20240…

AQLM 2025 is happening April 30-May 9th--applications due Dec 16th. Come join us for 10 days of awesome microscopy! #AQLM Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL)

Dare I say the claustrum is trending in Trends in Neurosciences?

Thrilled to preprint my postdoc work in the Maria Ioannou ! 🚀 Using live-cell and two-photon imaging, we reveal that Parkinson’s-linked glucosylceramide changes drive the formation and shedding of ectosomes, fueling α-synuclein spread. This pathway has broad implication in PD.

Ever wanted a virtual assistant that you could show your #microscopy images to get help with visual understanding, hypothesis generation, and experiment design? I'm pleased my team contributed to this reasoning benchmark led by James Burgess (at ICLR 2025) to test these abilities using current MLLMs
