Very few spider species have been added to the garden list this year, but there are one or two who probably have been here all along, like common linyphiid Neriene montana found today hiding within the coils of a dragonfly ornament ๐Ÿ•ท๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Undisputed star of last nightโ€™s trap was NFG Dark Crimson Underwing, but supporting cast of NFG Broad-barred White (2nd gen?), NFY Square-spot Rustic, Six-striped Rustic, and Hypsopygia glaucialis, plus a battered White-point, my 2nd this year. Phil Andrews BC Warwickshire

A couple of hours, long overdue, Worcs Wildlife Trust Tiddesley Wood this afternoon, a fab woodland reserve which never disappoints. Bit of a surprise to find two or three male Ivy Bees (Colletes hederae) nectaring on Hemp Agrimony (Eupatoria cannabinum) - easily my earliest record! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Favourite find Worcs Wildlife Trust Tiddesley Wood today this male velvet ant - Myrmosa atra, on angelica flowers - my first encounter with a mutillid wasp! The female is smaller red & black & wingless, very ant-like. A cool insect which is a cuckoo of small ground-nesting crabronids ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

At Tiddesley Wood, Worcs yesterday *lots* (>30) of bugs making more bugs on a patch of Common Fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica) - does flower choice have a bearing on ID? - Nysius senecionis is suggested ๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Last not least from Tiddesley Wood, Worcs - another wasp, this one a braconid in subfamily Agathidinae - jet black, with long ovipositor targeting unknown stem-boring lepidopteran larva in fleabane ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

In the garden on a rhubarb leaf a very interesting little chalcid wasp. <2mm, hairy, distinctive red iridescence to scutellum. Probably not possible to say from photo but I've found an encyrtid good fit, would be grateful for your thoughts Jaswinder Boparai (& Gavin's too?) TIA ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Stuck in a holding pattern with the light trap, some perfectly lovely moths but for the past three sessions very little new. An Old Lady batted about the garden last night but didn't land. So I give you a Common Wainscot, uncommon here this year & one of my great favourites๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Another meeting with female ichneumon Zaglyptus multicolor (Pimplinae) - she allowed a better pic this time, on a window in a pause from spider egg-sac-seeking ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ

Ichneumon male Syrphophilus bizonarius (Diplazontinae) in the garden this afternoon. Syrphophilus means "liker of hoverflies" - for all the wrong reasons from the hoverflies' point of view ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒ
