As one might expect if one thinks beta has a role in top-down control (as I do). Cortical beta oscillations map to shared brain networks modulated by dopamine doi.org/10.1101/2024.0… #neuroscience

Excited to share our paper in Nature Human Behaviour! Using electrochemical recordings in PD patient volunteers undergoing DBS surgery, we show that dopamine and serotonin in the substantia nigra track social context and value signals during the ultimatum game nature.com/articles/s4156…

At @APSMeetings this year? Come join our session on Neurodynamical Models of Cognition (chaired by Jason Kim)!! Also, we're recruiting a postdoc to come work at my group at Rutgers University! Come say hi!

🚨Out in Nature Human Behaviour🚨 Effort is costly--how can we learn to value doing effortful things? Reward effort, not outcomes/performance! Our registered report (w/ Hause Lin Andrew Westbrook) shows people can learn to prefer doing effortful tasks doi.org/10.1038/s41562… /1

waveform shape of oscillations can reflect properties of underlying spiking dynamics. if neuronal units fire in synchrony, the local field potential can be more asymmetric (here: sharp troughs). read about this & cool bat rhythms 🦇 in our new paper: jneurosci.org/content/44/10/…

Trouble focusing? Our latest study, led by Harrison Ritz, provides new insights into how the brain controls multiple streams of information processing. Read about it in Nature Human Behaviour or in the news story from Brown University! nature.com/articles/s4156… brown.edu/news/2024-03-0…

New preprint! Joint work w/ haley keglovits & David Badre. lPFC flexibly codes tasks of diff structure. How? We test 2 prevalant ideas 1) it uses a high dim, expressive geometry, agnostic to structure 2) it learns tailored geometries for each structure. tldr - Its 1, with an asterisk👇

Great to see a preprint from my time at the O'BRAIN lab published eLife - the journal. Nadine Herzog et al. pooled data from three of our studies (n=320) to investigate putative dopamine mechanisms, thought to underly working memory (gating) impairments in obesity. #workinprogress

We are hiring a Professional Specialist for a new NIMH Conte Center for Understanding Latent Cause Inference in Health and Illness shared between Princeton and Rutgers (the job is at Princeton, working directly with me, and is partly a position in my lab). More info: /1
