Science of Writing Instruction is the best writing PD. I used it in my grades 5/6 class and the gains were phenomenal. When I deliver PD, teachers are always blown away by what my students produced. Highly recommend that all Canadian schools train their teachers with this.

Not to be confused with the way we've been encouraged to teach inferencing in the past...plenty of take aways for me and pieces I'm going to bring into regular programming so that inference work is interleaved.
