Still behind a paywall, but for all you n+1 subscribers--or those considering subscribing--here's a link to my review of Orisanmi Burton & Jocelyn Simonson's excellent books on, as the title puts it, The Fifty-Year Revolt against prisons nplusonemag.com/issue-48/revie…

Thank you Dan Berger for this beautiful review of my & Orisanmi Burton's books! "Yesterday’s tactics are unlikely to secure tomorrow’s victories. The past offers an orientation, not an instruction manual, and successful struggle often requires an improvisational response to the moment."

Very misleading, by Mayor Adams. The cop AND 3 civilians shot & injured *by NYPD*. 1 bystander reportedly shot in the head. Injuries are from cops shooting recklessly on crowded subway, in pursuit of someone they say didn't pay $2.90 fare. These NYPD actions make us less safe.

I'm learning so much from this LPE Blog Movement Law Lab symposium. Like when I got to this moment in today's post: "what better way to subjugate people to a specific political and economic order than to dismantle networks of solidarity between individuals and communities?"

New #WeDeserveToBeSafe report shows that NYers in heavily policed neighborhoods want and need a different approach to community safety that invests in community resources—not more policing & criminalization—and holds NYPD accountable for abuse. bit.ly/wdtbsreport
