I had a lot of fun presenting my first piece of research as a postdoc at ComBio2022, and enjoyed learning about all the other cool research going on in Biology! Can’t wait to attend next time 😊

Very proud of my first honours student, Astrid Nissilä-Browne who did an amazing job in presenting her honours work on the effect of mitochondrial haplotype on glioblastoma. So great to see all the results come together, well done Astrid!

Super excited to share my latest paper in Jeb open access 🥳 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/je… Looking at standing genetic variation in a population and how it shapes plasticity! With fantastic people @ChristenMirth Greg Walter Carla Sgrò Keyne Monro @BioAndreNA #evolution #plasticity

So happy to kick off the new year by sharing that our paper "The Nuclear Transporter Importin 13 Can Regulate Stress-Induced Cell Death through the Clusterin/KU70 Axis" has been published in Cells MDPI Read it here: mdpi.com/2073-4409/12/2… Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute

In Nov 2015, we were invited to write a paper for the Flybook series in Genetics Society of America on the evolutionary genetics of the mitochondrial genome. Seven and a half years later, myself and Jonci Wolff have completed the project: academic.oup.com/genetics/advan…

Come by poster 123 to see all the cool work Jade Kannangara is doing with mitochondria in Drosophila! Nice experimental evolution looking at frequency-dependent selection and temperature #ICG2023

Amazing closing plenary talk by Neil Gemmell! So much to learn about sex determination in fish #ICG2023

Amazing talk by Vanessa Higham looking at the diet modification and changes in phenotypic expression mediated by mito-nuclear interactions #icg2023 #dowlinglab

In this review in Trends in Ecology & Evolution, led by Jack Brand, we outline why we believe that mitochondrial genetic variation is likely to be a driver of behavioral diversity; with Bob Wong (@bbmwong.bsky.social) and Francisco Garcia-Gonzalez. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Last time I was at the Plenary at MCEC was for Nick Cave. Today, Jade Kannangara from our lab rocked that very stage Biomolecular Horizons 2024 presenting her research on the evolutionary implications of mitochondrial heteroplasmy in response to thermal selection.
