Region champ in Boys Triple jump with a huge pr of 47’3.5!

Congrats to the Region 6-AAAA Champion in the Boys Triple Jump Justin Arogundade with a AAAA #1 jump of 47-3.5 ! Congrats to 🥈Benjamin Lee with a PR of 45-5.5 and 🥉jaden george ✞ with a jump of 42-7.5 All three heading to North Oconee next Saturday for the Class AAAA Sectional!

Storytime: On Tuesday during long jump, jaden george ✞ strained his quad. We felt it was severe enough to shut him down. Get healthy and prepare to report to Chattanooga Football … Kell track career over. On Thursday when we discovered we could not sub another athlete in for Jaden… 1/2

We knew we would simply lose that entry in Triple Jump. Forfeit points, and make our road to defending our region title more difficult. Without hesitation, Jaden asked me if he could at least try to give it ago. Not for himself but for the team. I told him no. FOUR TIMES. 2/3

Finally he asked again … “I’ll just do standing triple jumps” which I responded “That won’t do anything. You won’t jump more than 35 feet.” He proceeded to try and move around. I gave up at this point talking him down. 3/4

After getting some work done on his quad and switch feet on his phases… to everyone in attendance amazement. Jaden jumped 39+ feet on every attempt he took … from standing . No running approach. With the last jump being the 42-7 you see now. 4/5

1. I had never seen a kid jump that far, just standing … short approach with no use of the runway. 2. He did that for his team. He didn’t have to. That was in his heart to do it. So against better judgment. He did. We didn’t defend our title. We fell short.
