Reducing current cap numbers through extensive use of proration provides a team FREE OPTIONS- literally no downside. To purposely decide not to prorate is indefensible. Help me understand the other side to this if I’m missing something.

Ryan P. Mulvaney 100% agree. Bestowing the title on someone without appropriate experience and/ or not giving them true autonomy to be a balance for the Head Coach isnt going to move the needle.

I’ve said it before but hiring a real, professional and qualified agent pays for itself. Having your dad acting as your agent and telling the world his ‘client’ will dictate his own terms while turning their noses up at the process is malpractice.

The league has vastly different degrees of tolerance regarding behavior and character. Clubs that discount it will tend to accumulate more of these issues, as they appear to be good value (less demand). Dallas is an example of greatly prioritizing talent over all else.

This is a misleading way to describe the cap impact and the process. Happy to try to answer some questions but this amount was always base salary though treated as an option for cap purposes…and with that, at signing, the OB is assumed as exercised…though it hadn’t been yet.

I can understand teams being more cautious than the top of this list- but to never make use of this strategy is not positive in any context. There is a place for this tool even if you’re not all about being hyper aggressive.

Looking forward to #NACDA25 & seeing clients/friends in college athletics. I’ll be speaking on 2 panels. One on rev generation with @AustinElrod89, Jeramiah Dickey & Eddie Nunez. And one on building a modern front office with Tate Gillespie, Jake Rosenberg, and Adrian Wojnarowski.

I 100% agree with this and…I’ve also bet my career on building a biz partnering with schools to help with this process! ADs/ Coaches/ Execs/ School Presidents- Let’s talk about how we can help! We are about building long term relationships!

Each of these hires have extensive backgrounds in player evaluation, college, NFL or both. We have never seen a staff like this at OU and it makes it one of the more intriguing programs in college football right now. Going to be fascinating to watch this operation.

Sorry to break the news, but 'agreeing on a number' means absolutely nothing. It's all about the structure behind the deal. As my New Heights listeners know, guarantees and cash flow are everything. You can easily solve for the APY.

If the NFL wanted to actually improve diversity AND QUALITY of hiring decisions (reduce owners’ dead $): - broader development/ training - formal assessments and reviews - anti-nepotism policy - change anti-tampering rules - legitimize ‘ready lists’ Would save tens of millions!

This is what championship culture looks like… #intangiblywealthy Yet others around the league are adding players to the bottom of the roster with histories of gun violence, drugs, robbery, and domestic violence.
