James Baird’s book, King of Kings, is an incredible primer for the layperson, outlining what all Christians should agree on regarding political first principles. Thesis: The government is morally obligated to promote true religion as a societal good.

the Bible gives principles of government (republished from nature) and reveals true religion and guides us with divine wisdom but it doesn’t provide a “politic” it doesn’t prescribe all of the particulars for our concrete situation that’s up for prudential judgment
