Which burns more carbs– a long easy ride or a short hard one? How cool would it be to turn your TSS into an estimate of kcal and carb use? Our new study introduces a novel method to predict carb and kcal use using measures of training load (TL)! link.springer.com/article/10.100… 1/

This review reminded me of one of the 1st papers I read that got me thinking adaptations to heat stress could have application in exercise performance was on hot water immersion & diabetics. physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.14814/p…

Invitations to speak at a conference are always an honour. It was great to deliver a keynote on how to stay relevant throughout your career + practical workshop on heat training. The SPRINZ AUT S&C Conference was one of the most enjoyable I've attended. sprinz.aut.ac.nz/strength-and-c…

TLDR: in this dataset of 200+ trained athletes, change in VO2max was not related to change in endurance performance over training periods ≤18wks of different training intensity distributions. Because other un-observed factors also contribute 🔗👇 15/15 link.springer.com/article/10.100…

While not overly surprising, it's good to see some data published quantifying the effects of different humidity levels on endurance performance and physiological responses. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40107869/ Julien Périard

Hot water immersion (60 min at 42 C) appears more beneficial than CWI (15 min at 12 C) in improving muscle regeneration after a muscle injury (daily lower body exposure for 10 days following eccentric exercise induced muscle damage). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40437768/
