In 1984, a seismic event at 5 shaft led to the deaths of Sulo Korpela, Richard Chenier, Daniel Lavallee and Wayne St. Michel.  Ontario Mine Rescue worked for 27 hours removing debris. Unfortunately, the rescue became a recovery. 41 years later, Sudbury joins annually to grieve.
