It was an honour to join Dr. Chas Desjarlais, the Vancouver School Board Indigenous Education Department and Victoria Jung to be in ceremony to ensure Indigenous veterans are no longer forgotten.

Today was Vancouver’s Centennial #RemembranceDay Service and we were honoured by the presence of two centenarian veterans. We remember everyone who has served and given so much of themselves for Canada.

It’s playoff time for Vancouver School Board elementary volleyball teams - many thanks to all staff & families supporting the players inc Oliver Ng and Barb Hinds who organized a playoff tournament - with congratulations to Cavell on advancing to the City championship.

It was fascinating to visit Vancouver School Board Trudeau Elementary to experience the AIRS artist in residence program with artist Kelsey and grade 5,6,7 students exploring abstract art - there’s so much uncertainty as you don’t know what you’re going to create until you start.

So much imagination and creativity! Henderson grade 6,7 students thought about public space design and planning with Monica, AIRS Artist in Residence, and then worked in groups to make collage animations. Thanks for the invitation to the screening!

Waverley students worked with AIRS artist Nellie to explore the relationships of bodies to everyday materials, based on themes in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Thanks to all the students who talked with me about the creative & practical parts of their projects.

The Woman of the Grass House Post was unveiled Vancouver School Board Byng Secondary today, acknowledging the Musqueam land on which the school is built. I was honoured to attend the ceremony along with many students who helped carve paddles from the cut away yellow cedar.

It was very moving to attend the Vancouver School Board Indigenous Grade 7 Moving Forward Ceremony - to see students celebrating with family, community and school staff as building relationships is so important for students.

At this time of year it’s an honour to be a part of high school graduation ceremonies, sharing the joy with graduates from @vsb39 Alternate and Alternative, David Thompson and Gladstone Secondary Schools. Congratulations! 💜💚❤️
