Soil inverts the next black box in plant-soil interactions? Yes! Tree traits and and mycorrizae associations may drive soil inverts and in turn soil properties. Thanks Janey R. Lienau

@MeghanMidgley Women In Soil Ecology ESA Soil Ecology ESA Biogeoscience Thanks @MeghanMidgley, Janey Lienau, and Robert Buchkowski for organizing such a great session and for the invite! Very encouraging to see all the wonderful science and interest in soil inverts! Future looks bright, and black box no more. #ESA2022 ESA Soil Ecology

This past week I attended my first Ecological Society and had the incredible opportunity to present our work on plant soil interactions with invertebrates communities at the MortonArboretum with @MeghanMidgley, Robert Buchkowski, and Leticia Flores. Thank you to all our presenters for coming!!

New #YSE research reveals how animals remove billions of tons of carbon dioxide each year. Restoring and conserving them to limit #GlobalWarming. Read the study, led by #YaleEnvironment Oastler Professor of Population & Community #Ecology, Oswald Schmitz: environment.yale.edu/news/article/p…

Other #ESA2023 highlights included Janey R. Lienau's poster on how ground beetle trophic interactions can alter soil nitrogen! She found predator treatments had a net positive on nitrogen mineralization in young forests, while detritivore treatments had a net negative effect!

I'm thrilled to announce my very first publication is out with @MeghanMidgley and Robert Buchkowski from our work at the MortonArboretum on ground beetle ecology in forests!!! 🪲 authors.elsevier.com/a/1iPQu790n3-uF

This recent Pedobiologia - Journal of Soil Ecology paper uses data from the NEON program to investigate how evergreen trees influence ground beetle density and ecology - check it out! Janey R. Lienau @MeghanMidgley Robert Buchkowski MortonArboretum #womeninSTEM sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

The MortonArboretum REU application deadline is February 2! Please share this announcement & encourage your students to apply! Great opportunity to contribute to science and conservation of trees. Our team will focus on gene flow in a rare Mexican oak. mortonarb.org/science/opport…

Read the latest #WomenInEcology interview with Janey R. Lienau, a Ph.D. student at Yale School of the Environment. Lienau’s work, shaped initially by NEON data, focuses on the interactions of animals, plants, and soil in forest ecosystems. View the blog: buff.ly/4d15aWc #womeninscience

Had an amazing time presenting our Schmitz Lab research at #EGU24 in the session 'Linkages between soil fauna and biogeochemical cycles' Thanks to Robert L Bradley for organizing and André Franco for capturing the moment!

Very happy to see the highlight of our study, written by Schmitz Lab and Janey R. Lienau Thank you very much! Also, a special thanks to Mariano Rodriguez-Cabal and Journal of Animal Ecology for your trust in our study! :) Gustavo Q Romero Srivastava Lab besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/13…

Thrilled to announce the publication of my master's thesis with Schmitz Lab and Marlyse C. Duguid, exploring ground beetle 🪲 trophic interactions in temperate forests🌲doi.org/10.1111/oik.10… #Ecology #ForestResearch #GroundBeetles #TrophicInteractions #NewPublication
