This #WorldMentalHealthDay we have been thinking about the power of recreation and creativity to support our mental health and wellbeing. 2020 has led many of us to (re)discover hobbies that provide a bit of escapism, help us learn new skills and enable us to express ourselves.

Last week the first of the projects got underway with Durham Archaeology carrying out the geophys survey of St John's Close English Heritage Warkworth Castle. The results are currently being processed and we should know more what they have found in the summer.

Sometimes only tiny traces remain. The orchard that was planted for patients and staff at Naburn Hospital (formerly York City Asylum). Now a community orchard. #mentalhealth #heritage

The sun is out, the world is waking up again. Who wants to go on an adventure? Come on; grab your sarnies and dig out your wellies. It's time to go exploring... what will we find today? (Stay with us, promise its worth it!)

Yesterday we were out with Creative Minds and the SouthWestYorkshire Partnership NHS FoundationTrust grounds teams to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Caring Garden at Fieldhead. To mark the date we planted a tree and are now looking forward to the next phase of the Garden's development 🌱🐝🌍
