unpopular opinion but the whole "no drinking" vibe is correlated with a massive spike in social isolation. yes, binge drinking is bad, but going out for a glass of wine or a beer with friends on the regular actually has positive effects that outweigh the negative health

30 Years of Bolgheri DOC; and Grattamacco was there at the beginning. A fascinating and insightful tasting to write up, including the thought-provoking 1991.

It was never Sella & Mosca's intention to make an international, Cabernet Sauvignon-led wine in the 'guise of Tignanello when it launched Marchese di Villamarina in 1989. Since then it's been winning plaudits on its own. A great 8-vintage tasting. Click the-buyer.net/tasting/wine/s…

One for you The Labour Party and Rachel Reeves. These duty bands are unworkable. And they won’t generate any more revenue. Just “Brexit benefit” red tape. Is the BBC Radio 4 Today programme aware of this? Lots of stuff about farmers. Nothing about the wine and hospitality businesses.

Mazzei's Siepi is an important wine because it shows how Merlot can make outstanding wines in Tuscany when blended with Sangiovese. In a landmark 2007-2022 tasting we discover from Giovanni Mazzei how this wine was born and when it performs best. Click the-buyer.net/tasting/wine/s…

Estate agent saying we should put the rent up for our tenant. £300 per month because we haven’t put it up in 4 years. Have her wages gone up by £3500? I doubt it. It’s a no from me. And less commission for them 😂

The Institute says: “In total, Europe has allocated EUR 70 billion in financial and humanitarian aid as well as EUR 62 billion in military aid. This compares to EUR 64 billion in military aid from the US as well as EUR 50 billion in financial and humanitarian allocations.” 4/

How quickly we in Britain forget the murder of Litvinenko, the Salisbury poisoning, killing of journalists via windows, and the “death” of Navalny. Britons who are siding with Russia are traitors. Real ones. Not just imagined. Sympathisers and Putin puppets. Shame on you.

It’s always a pleasure to talk and taste with Johan Reyneke. My latest piece for The Buyer looks at how the new estate range moves forward the long-standing and deeply held ethical principles at the heart of this remarkable South African wine farm.
