Physician payment reform is in the air. So I wanted to share our paper about the Medicare Shared Savings Program. We find that the MSSP has had virtually no budget impact for CMS. ACOs are not the answer to cost containment in Traditional Medicare. tinyurl.com/32emjerw

Take a look at one of my favorite findings I’ve had in recent years. We document how Vision Zero — NYC’s major traffic reform policy — reduced traffic injuries among low-income New Yorkers by 25-30%, using nearby counties for comparison. ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/10.2105/AJ…

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, asked if he’d accept offer to serve as vp for Harris, quips: “Look, if they if they do the polling and it turns out that they need a 49-year-old, bald and gay Jew from Boulder, Colorado, they got my number.” Dana Bash: “😆😆. That was very funny.”

🚨New paper🚨The emergency department (ED) is like a box of chocolates; you never know which doc you're gonna get. What happens when you get a doc that admits patients more often? Are you less likely to die? Stephen Coussens and I explore this question in JAMA Internal Medicine.🧵1/

📢New in Health Affairs! PE acquisitions in gastro ⬆️prices by 28% relative to hospitals, driven by a 78%⬆️ in professional fees. As policymakers shift care from $$$ hospital to outpatient settings, PE ownership of outpatient settings can undo policies to promote affordability.
