Heading back to Norway after productive days at the Munich Security Conference. I met with a range of friends and colleagues from the US & Europe to discuss transatlantic cooperation, tariffs and other key issues.

We did all we could to prevent Russia’s invasion, but we could not give up #Ukraine’s right to be free. Ukraine’s future is their own, but it’s also in our hands. Good to speak to the Minister of Finance of Poland Andrzej Domański about the prospects of international trade. As US tariffs surge, increasing the likelihood of EU safeguard measures in the future, it’s important that European trade with Norway is not targeted.

Norway more than doubles our support for Ukraine, to approximately 8 billion EUR this year. Europe must do more. I am pleased about the unanimous support from the Norwegian parliament behind this decision.

Good to meet PM Frederiksen & Minister of Finance Wammen to discuss tariffs & trade, and that it is key for #Norway to be part of the EU's safeguard measures. #Denmark is a close friend & in uncertain times we need to stand together. I look forward to continuing our cooperation.

It was good to represent Norway at the #ECOFIN meeting in Warsaw. On the agenda was how we can gear our economies to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities. In times of global instability, we must work better together.

Great to meet again Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal of #Ukraine at the U.S. Chamber. #Norway & The Transatlantic Community has stood side by side with Ukraine since Russia’s invasion. We are stepping up our support this year to approx 8 billion EUR to ensure a just & lasting peace.

Today we launched the annual report on Norway’s sovereign wealth fund with a public hearing in Parliament. I was Minister for Energy when we made the first investments to the Fund. Now it’s est. at more than $1.8 trillion, and the profits are key to balance the Norwegian budget.

I commend the Trump Administration for our great cooperation in reaching an energy deal that allows Equinor to resume construction of Empire Wind. Today Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and I met with President Emmanuel Macron and Eric Lombard to discuss Norway’s sovereign wealth fund. As one of the world’s largest funds, it’s set up to diversify risk through broad exposure.
