When New Forest NPA asked me to choose my favourite wild place for the #OurNatureStory campaign, it had to be Pinkhill Meadow near #Oxford. This is where Freshwater Habitats Trust first made wildlife ponds more than 30 years ago. I challenge @gemmafreshwater Anne Carter @oxon_bucks_FWN

After a hard morning's raking, it was great to find some clumps of the very scarce tiny Bristle Club-rush Isolepis setacea (back from the disturbed seed bank) on the way out. My archive photo of the flowering heads in August. BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

Sitting right beside one of Britain's hottest of hot spots for freshwater biodiversity (the Thompson and Stow Bedon pingos) this is a great example of how to build out from the best and recover buried treasures hidden below the surface in 'ghost ponds' Prof Carl Sayer.
