another hall of famer. Not embarrassed to talk to his teammates on defense. This may be one of the most difficult thing to get your players to do. Maybe it is time to follow Coach Wooden's advise the best teacher is the bench. lol

At times I get the feeling that defense can be an after thought to many players, a temporary lapse of time between offensive possessions, but to a coach there is nothing more satisfying than watching their team defend together with that common goal "they are not scoring on US!"

Jay Wright (Villanova) was a Culture KING. Why? Here are 5 Jay Wright quotes that shed some light💡. 1: “We have a saying that everyone’s role is different, but everyone’s status is the same. It’s a reminder that no matter how bright the spotlight gets, we are all part of

Sometimes sports show you performances that are so incredible you simply are in awe, and there are no words, this is one of them .

All you can ask is to get as close to YOUR potential as possible. I never sulked as a “bench guy” or felt I was being mistreated by my coaches. I had a role at University of Portland. I wasn’t the guy who took the most shots, was called out in the starting line up, or even asked

As parents, we are raising a child not an athlete. If we focus on making our child accountable for being the best person on the team, not just the best player, he/she will get much more out of sports.

It's common that coaches often see athletes that want to be great players. It's uncommon that coaches see that same athlete want to be a great leader, a great teammate, and a great role model. To stand out, don't just be great; create greatness all around you.

If your Guards can’t ( or won’t ) rebound you are not going to win anything of substance. You can win games but you won’t win the Wars that separate you from others. Your drills, scrimmaging , breakdowns and film/ numbers HAVE TO get that across. It’s AWARENESS ! Its. WILL !

He has turned himself around from a punch line as the bad boy of Duke basketball into a quality professional He was always harshly judged as not living up to his great potential. He responded with anger. He still plays with an edge, but nothing left to prove. He is a Player.

OK I admit it, I love John Wooden! Call me old fashion. Tell me kids don't relate today to these messages. All I can say is they should, and I will keep trying to spread the words of this teacher to my kids, my grandchildren and anyone else who will listen.

Sports superstitions: I'm in the bathroom Rory makes his first birdie. I am relegated by my family to go into the bathroom on every birdie putt thereafter. It worked!!! I'm planning on implementing it on free throws for us this coming year.
