Had a great time at the #SEA2022 (although the weather was 🌪️🌧️) Saw many interesting presentations and connected with new economists all over the world, like Jessica Kiser - thanks Analisa Packham for connecting us!

christine durrance Jessica Kiser follows with work on Virginia’s Contraceptive Access Initiative. She shows that the program, which provided LARCs to low-income women reduced birth rates by 1-3%, in a setting with high baseline take-up and expanded Medicaid access. Policy context matters!

Enjoyed having a chance to present at the Economic Demography workshop yesterday! I presented new work with Jessica Kiser on a contraception initiative in Virginia and watched Lindsey Bullinger present our joint work on cash and child maltreatment. A stacked program! ;)

My first paper has found a home WEAI Economic Inquiry! I show that Perinatal Quality Collaboratives improve maternal health by reducing eclampsia and ICU admissions.

Cool results by Jessica Kiser at Southeastern Health Economics Study Group showing that state non-nursing midwifery laws increasing provider choice ⬆️ home births by 20-30% No detected changes in infant or maternal health outcomes. She’s on the market!

I'm so excited to be heading to Macalester College next year! I couldn't have done it without my amazing co-chairs, Analisa Packham and Kitt Carpenter. I'm so grateful for their guidance and that of my other committee members, Michelle M. Marcus and Stephen Patrick, MD, MPH.

A big day for the applied micro group at Vanderbilt Economics! We first had our second year PhD students present their yo and coming research, then hosted a happy hour send-off for our students and postdocs leaving for bigger and better things. So proud to be a part of this group!
