I’m studying to be a sommelier and the concept of bouba and kiki has been surprisingly relevant. a lot of the job is basically asking restaurant guests if they would like their wine to be bouba or kiki

If you want an example of how NOT to use ChatGPT in scientific writing, here you go. Which is not to say you can't or shouldn't use it! Like all tools, it can be used or misused. Some ideas on how to use it well: scientistseessquirrel.wordpress.com/2023/06/20/how…

I am tired today, & no heart to write, & indeed not a word to say. I work a little every day with groans & sighs & am as dull as a pig. - It is hopeless & useless. -Charles Darwin wrote to a friend #OnThisDay in 1865

Tree crickets build megaphones, called "baffles", by chewing holes in leaves to attract mates. Our lab is seeking some #communityScience help studying the evolution of this behavior! Follow the link to our new project on @iNaturalist inaturalist.org/projects/baffl…

New paper out in ProcB! We measured sexual selection on temporally emergent properties of treefrog calls – call rate and regularity – and found that while ♀ prefer fast & regular calls, selection weakens changes shape as the number of choices increases. doi.org/10.1098/rspb.2…

New work from our lab out in Ecology & Evolution! Trina Chou led this study testing the hypothesis that sexual signals reflect infection. She worked with spring peepers 🐸 naturally infected with Bd, the pathogen that causes chytridiomycosis (#chytrid). doi.org/10.1002/ece3.7…
