Calling all #MedTwitter residents - what are some initiatives and/or events that your program/GME office sponsors that ~actually~ increases your wellness? Would love to hear about successful ideas! ☺️

Somehow this doesn’t seem like supporting #healthcareheroes… Stanford Health Care please support our nurses, and our doctors, and all of our healthcare workers!!

Let's be clear Stanford Health Care 1) A union doesn’t mean the “flattening” of department-specific benefits and 2) any threat to reduce existing benefits is illegal.

🚨🚨 MAJOR UPDATE: WE JUST WON OUR UNION!! The live vote count is still going, but based on the total number of verified ballots, we’ve reached (and exceeded) super majority with YES votes! Stanford resident & fellow doctors are UNIONIZED 💪🏽🎉✨ CIR/SEIU #MedTwitter

In an absolute LANDSLIDE, 1442 doctors in training (interns, residents, and fellows) at Stanford vote to join CIR/SEIU 835-214. Housestaff everywhere are done being exploited, and we’re on an absolute organizing tear right now.

🎉🎉🎉 We won! With an incredible 80% yes and 72% turnout, Stanford’s housestaff have voted to form a union with CIR/SEIU and claim our legal right to a voice at the table! #unionstrong #union #residentwellbeing #MedTwitter #MedEd

WE WON! The vote tally is finished, and housestaff at Stanford Health Care have voted overwhelmingly in favor of forming a union with CIR 835-214. We’ll be able to announce the official certification in one week. Welcome to the CIR family! ✊💜

Great news: Stanford medical residents and fellows just won their NLRB election to form a union with CIR/SEIU in a landslide! Stanford Health Care's relentless, expensive anti-union campaign failed and Stanford's doctors will finally have a real voice on the job while they train.

NEW: Medical residents are unionizing at a historic rate in an effort to change our broken health care system. These doctors – vital to our hospitals – are pressured to work over 80 hours/week and earn less than min. wage. But while nurses are often unionized, few doctors are.

Very excited to share a JAMA Viewpoint written with @Riagpal and Jessie Ge, MD, reflecting on the professional roles of physicians and how housestaff activism is a critical piece of realizing our responsibility as health advocates #medtwitter #meded jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

Would you believe excessive work hours are associated with symptoms of depression? In case anyone needs data to support the logic behind that statement… #meded #wellbeing #gme Work Hours and Depression in U.S. First-Year Physicians | NEJM nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Ready for a smart toilet? 😉 science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Science Translational Medicine I'm not. But it could be a good research tool for data collection for willing participants

I am excited to share a new story about smart toilets out today in Science Translational Medicine with amazing colleagues, Jessie Ge, MD, Joseph Liao, MD, Kevin Todd Mintz, Vasiliki N Rahimzadeh, PhD, and Nicole Martinez-Martin. Smart toilets are a key tool for enabling precision health monitoring in the home. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
