J Bill Russell (legit GOAT) is STILL 'the standard' today.

Most importantly, Carmelo lead the Nuggets to a better record in the west compared to LeBron's East. If Detroit took Carmelo at #2 back in 03', I'd say there's a real chance Melo would have been a lot better than he was and be argued a better player than LeBron all time.
