Thank you so much Dr. Camerer Colin Camerer for your encouraging words! This work would not have been possible without the support from the Iowa neuroscience and neurosurgery community.

Thrilled to be my 1st-time to attend #ACNP2023! I am Jing, an Asst Prof University of Iowa Pediatric Neurology. My lab currently combines multimodal brain stimulation + recording methods to investigate causal cortico-subcortical circuits. Stop by my poster📍W90 on Wed for our recent work on amygdala.

What downstream targets does DLPFC TMS reach? We set out to ask this question using intracranial EEG. 6.5 years later and I'm happy to *finally* share our first article using this approach in Molecular Psychiatry. trebuchet.public.springernature.app/get_content/52…

What drives fMRI signals to go up or down? Beyond conventional “neurovascular coupling”, our latest work Nature Communications reveals critical factors in the striatum by controlling and measuring key cell types and circuits across scales, modalities, and species: nature.com/articles/s4146…

Preprint 🚨 This one is important for invasive #Parkinson #neurotech of the future. Deep brain stimulation suppresses oscillatory hyperdirect pathway communication. So does dopamine! This is (to my knowledge) one of the first intracranial electrophysiological demonstrations that TMS to the dlPFC reaches the subgenual cingulate cortex! More to come in this space soon 🧠⚡️ Aaron Boes Jing Jiang Nick Trapp Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute

TMS is delivered to the DLPFC in depression, aiming to modulate SGC activity But axons linking DLPFC and SGC are absent How then does TMS stimulation modulate SGC activity? Caio's work on TMS propagation in the absence of direct anatomical paths: medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

Ever wonder why some brain regions are more excitable? Using intracranial stim and recordings in humans, our team led by @Momi Sara Parmigiani Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute andrea pigorini John Griffiths Precision Neurotherapeutics Lab @ Stanford discovered a fascinating hierarchy in these neural responses 🧠⚡️

Congratulations to our Human Neural Circuitry team; bit.ly/4dEyX7Z publishes today in Science! This was the hardest challenge of my career, but one of the most rewarding, after years of rebuilding– & for myself, expanding my inpatient neuropsychiatry work to the service
