Oh wise people who live in my phone… Can anyone point me in the direction of some recent good evidence for senior decision makers on the front door in ED? There’s lots of stuff saying do it but most papers I’ve read admit that evidence is scarce… Many thanks in advance!

For the staff Welford Christmas Tree Farm who said they don’t get many pictures of wreaths once they’ve left the farm. This one has made it to LE2. Clearly a hard day for your team but we had a good time picking a tree and toasting marshmallows. 🎄👍

Naming no names… but have definitely worked places where the culture is that calling a critical incident is discouraged.

Corridor nurses and care in corridors utterly normalised (this is an advert for a corridor nurse but sadly it’s nothing new). Don’t be fooled as critical incidents stood down: they’ll be back. Almost every hospital is treating patients in corridors and car parks. Royal College of Emergency Medicine

I can believe this was the ‘least worst’ choice faced by a department. These decisions are being made up & down the country because there isn’t capacity for everyone coming through the doors. I know I am one bad shift from choices like this myself.

@EddCarlton We get asked a lot by single disease groups to do something different / better. These are all important conditions. The problem is that asking us to prioritise one condition is tacitly asking us to deprioritise others.

Any Royal College of Emergency Medicine appointments commitee reps on here available 12/5 for a panel Northampton General Hospital 💙? Happy to run over teams but we’re struggling to get anyone. Would also appreciate a r/t to share wider. Thanks.

40 years old, educated to post graduate level and literally responsible for people’s lives at work… I have had to ask special permissions to be able to print in colour. Why can’t we treat people like adults? I certainly feel less valued by my employer than before this decision

And when you say “this doesn’t feel safe” (and you are already working so far past safe that it has to be really bad to say this) you are met with nothing. Because there is nothing that anyone can do. Duty of candour is a total joke and just adds to the burden and moral injury

Five years in and I am already on the fifth go round for explaining why recruitment of doctors is needed in the ED and that max weekend frequencies mean we will always need bank/locum staff.

For those like Kemi Badenoch banging on about banning striking it's wise to read this document from the GMC about how the rest of the world sees us as a place to work in medicine; TLDR easy to get in but rubbish pay, conditions, treatment by employers & quality of life. Make that
