A major reason science publishing is so messed up is that every time something bad happens it’s chalked up to bad actors - bad authors, bad reviewers, bad journals, bad publishers - instead of recognizing that it’s the system itself that is bad

My 13-year-old daughter got infected by this crap. Face abscess and cellulitis. Got hospitalized, had a surgery to drain the abscess and pus. Antibiotics didn’t work until the surgery. She is doing well now!

If you're a foreign correspondent in Brazil and you're writing about Elon Musk's latest tantrum, please don't be lazy. Don't treat this as a conflict between a judge and a bunch of twitter users. It's nothing of the sort. (1/n).

We have 389 Medical Schools in Brazil. This is not right. And “doctors” don’t need residency to practice medicine. Not surprising Brazil was the country that most used chloroquine during COVID-19 pandemic.

Candida auris outbreaks are under control in Brazil. I’ve been in Rio de Janeiro and, more recently, in Recife. Feeling great and proud to see Brazilians engaged to fight the spread of this emergent pathogen. And once again, many thanks to CDC for the precious support.

“My mother didn't have money and I missed training more than I went. She got tired of walking to and from work when she gave me the money for the bus ticket. My brother then bought a bicycle and took me with him…”. This is how Rebeca Andrade began her life in gymnastics.

I gave a lecture to fresh Brazilian ID physicians about the guidelines for the management of candidemia. Right after the end of it, the pharma guys came to me saying that I didn’t mention rezafungin. Wtf! What would you do in that situation?
