As #StormÉowyn moved into the Republic of Ireland earlier, a wind gust of 114mph was recorded at Mace Head in Galway - a new all time wind record for the country. After this record wind gust the station stopped reporting due to damage to the recording equipment.

A low in the southern #Mozambique Channel can strengthen while bringing rounds of heavy rain to coastal #Mozambique & the west coast of #Madagascar into Monday. Low SE of #DiegoGarcia can become a cyclone early next week & may impact #Rodrigues Island late next week.

Ridging will return to the #UK, #Ireland and northern #Europe late next week which will mean a return to a dry pattern across the region to start February.

A sting jet may be responsible for the record winds in Ireland with #StormÉowyn. A sting jet is a short-lived & narrow airstream that descends from the mid-troposphere. It forms with explosively developing extra-tropical storms & follows a storm's highest rate of intensification.

The track of #StormEowyn from the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday to #Ireland & the #UK Friday. The flat wave entered the right rear entrance region of a jet streak off the US resulting cyclogenesis then moved to the left front exit region late Thursday resulting in rapid strengthening.

Tropical Disturbance 6 has formed in the #Mozambique Channel & can become a cyclone over the next few day but regardless will produce areas of heavy rain in Mozambique & #Madagascar into next week. Another cyclone can form southeast of #DiegoGarcia early next week.

Slow-moving Zone of Disturbed Weather 6 will remain over the #Mozambique Channel during the next few days while producing areas of heavy rain in southern #Madagascar. Areas of heavy rain can return to portions of Mozambique later in the week.

A western disturbance will bring rain & mountain snow to northern #Afghanistan, northern #Pakistan & northwest #India Wednesday into the weekend. Scattered rains, some heavy, will return to #SriLanka & southern #India around midweek.

Watching for tropical development off northern #Australia from the Timor Sea to the Gulf of Carpentaria & Coral Sea late this week into early next weekend. Best chance for development looks to be over the Coral Sea.

Another storm is bringing more rain, wind & higher elevation snow to #Ireland, the #UK & western #Europe which will slow clean up efforts in the wake of #StormÉowyn. Another storm will impact the area Wednesday into Thursday. A quieter pattern is expected to return this weekend.

Rain & snow will continue across the Korean Peninsula & far northeast #China into Tuesday, KST. Snowfall over 30 cm possible in the mountains. A storm can spread areas of heavy rain & higher elevation snow from eastern China across #SouthKorea to #Japan Friday into the weekend.

A low southeast of #DiegoGarcia can strengthen to a moderate TS over the next few days. Any cyclone should be minimal threat to land but can track far enough west to bring some rain to Rodrigues Island late in the week.
