"The term âexcited deliriumâ should just be gone forever." John Oliver of Last Week Tonight calls to end the use of âexcited deliriumâ as a cause-of-death. Excited delirium is âat best useless, and at worst, racist pseudoscience.â Watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=7Yd9nLâŚ

Citing PHRâs landmark report, John Oliver spotlights the role of Axon Enterprise (the maker of Tasers) in popularizing this dangerous and invalid term. Learn more about our efforts with Campaign Zero to endexciteddelirium.org. Read PHRâs report: phr.org/our-work/resouâŚ

NEW: Last night on Last Week Tonight John Oliver discussed âExcited Deliriumâ - a debunked diagnosis by several professional associations - and why it should be banned from use. Watch here ⤾ď¸

AND he mentioned my bill with NYS Senator Samra Brouk A697/S1714 to prohibit the use of the term âexcited deliriumâ as a diagnosis, label, or cause of death. Some states have already passed similar bills. It's time we do the same.

Thank you Last Week Tonight and John Oliver for shining a light on the racist pseudoscience term "Excited Delirium". Jessica GonzĂĄlez-Rojas (votejgr.bsky.social) and I have a bill S1714/A697 to ban it as a cause of death. Other states have passed similar bills, NY should too.
