I was brushing the roots of some wood avens today (as you do) when I looked down at the surface I was working on and realised how much these elderflower flowers that had blown in from somewhere looked like tiny stars. #woodavens #roots #elderflowers #nature #medicinalplants

One of my favourite places in all of London. I like to think that this beautiful bat box will be full of tiny pipistrelle bats in about a month’s time. #nature #london #urbannature #bats #pippistelles #batboxes

My sister just sent me (& all our siblings) a roll of photos my father took of the Irish writer Seán Ó Faoláin. I then found the Atlantic issue from 1964 which used his photo. He had such a way of seeing & being. I miss him. #fathers #photography #seanofaolain #Ireland #writers

"...in this Pocock reminds us of Donna Haraway: we assume the disorder to learn to continue with the problem of living and dying together on a wounded earth, opening ourselves up and generating a new type of thinking that will allow us to build more liveable futures." 👇👇👇

Thrilled that one of my Life Writing students Short Courses at University of the Arts London has just been published in The Rumpus The piece began its life in one of my classes. There are few better feelings than seeing work you love written by serious writers getting out there. therumpus.net/2025/05/27/voi

I loved this book. So much has been written about wolves in North America, but the packs that roam Central Europe were new to me. Adam Weymouth writes beautifully about these complex creatures & their relationship to humans. A wonderful read. #nonfiction #adamweymouth #wolves

I think about Townes Van Zandt's joke when he says he is going to play 'a medley of my hit' at least several times a week. 'Pancho and Lefty' is truly one of the greatest songs ever written. youtube.com/watch?v=zprRZ2
