899 multi dose epi pts vs 799 single dose epi pts. 9.9% vs 13.2% survival to hospital discharge. 7.6% vs 9.1% favorable neurologic outcome. More epi during cardiac arrests equals MORE ROSC, but no improvement in neuro outcomes. #EaglesGather23

.@colwellMD is discussing the top 5 trauma #EMS papers from the past year. #EaglesGather23 1) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36975122/ We need to keep BP up in trauma patients, but crystalloid is not the answer. Need to limit to ~250cc and get comfy with lower BP's.

Always honored to be part of this great group of #EMSDocs who are laboring hard to improve prehospital care for their patients, communities, AND improving work environments for their #EMS clinicians. #EaglesGather23

Dr. Scheppke of Florida Dept. of Health is discussing the use of ketamine for status epilepticus. Read more about the pathophysiology and pharmacology, as well as WHY ketamine is the better agent. I've used this in my practice with success! hmpgloballearningnetwork.com/site/emsworld/… #EaglesGather23

The feasibility & utility of triage algorithms & tags are being scrutinized as MCI's evolve. Kevin Mackey & Chief Saari of Sacramento Fire Department suggest that you ask the "4 S's" to see if triage tags are going to be helpful or not. Use the "ACE" acronym for sorting. #EaglesGather23

Absolutely brilliant talk by Peter Antevy. Papers include: 1) Ventilations in pedi arrest 2) Fluids in sepsis 3) Prehospital whole blood 4) Prehospital antibiotics for sepsis 5) Epi in shockable rhythms Key Point: READ the papers to see if the science is sound! #EaglesGather23

Eric Chase #EMSIMPROV LLC Eagles Coalition First There First Care Great question...I have both ground & air services in rural areas where HEMS usage to send the pt out helps keep the single ambulance in the community. You could argue it's still appropriate usage..."to prevent depletion of local EMS resources" is how we document it.

.@DrMackey1 discussing the impact & sheer simplicity of 20 min of cool running water w/in 3 hours of burn injury to make significant improvements in morbidity. Study came from a massive meta-analysis w/11k+ pts! Very impressive numbers! #EaglesGather23 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35688782/
