Welcoming officially Jonathan Gallego Rudolf to the lab! Jonathan is from Mexico doing his PhD w/ Sylvia Villeneuve & us. He trained in Psychology & Neurobiology UNAM. His focus is on MEG signal markers of Ab/tau protein accumulation in the pre-AD brain.

1/3 New lab paper suggesting, in 4 independent cohorts of cognitively unimpaired individuals, that the presence of both amyloid and tau-PET positivity is associated with near-term #AlzheimersDisease clinical progression. Strong support for the NIA-AA preclinical research criteria

A new study published in Nature Neuroscience by Sylvain Baillet ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ's lab at The Neuro and Sylvia Villeneuve at Douglas Research Centre shows that two Alzheimer's-related proteins impact brain activity differently: From hyper- to hypoactivity to cognitive decline. buff.ly/3XKUSDY

So happy to share our new paper out in Nature Neuroscience ๐Ÿฅฒ Huge thanks to all my collaborators at McGill University, specially my mentors Sylvia Villeneuve and Sylvain Baillet ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ. We report on the synergistic effects of Aฮฒ and tau on human neurophysiology. Full paper here nature.com/articles/s4159โ€ฆ

8 years ago, Sylvia Villeneuve & I set out to map how Alzheimerโ€™s pathology affects brain activity. Thrilled to share our first results, showing how Aฮฒ and tau proteins synergistically associate w/ brain neurophys & cog decline, now out in Nature Neuroscience I rdcu.be/dUjgF ๐Ÿงต

Another cool finding from our study, IMO, is that our model, based on early brain activity changes linked to protein buildup in symptom-free participants, forecasted brain activity changes in advanced cases retrieved from independent validation data. neurospeed-bailletlab.org/news/early-braโ€ฆ

Big news!! The preprint of the new PREVENT-AD data release is now available ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿฆณ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ It comprises a huge set of longitudinal cognitive, biofluid and multimodal neuroimaging data from individuals at risk of AD (including rs-MEG ๐Ÿ˜ฌ). So happy to be part of it! medrxiv.org/content/10.110โ€ฆ
