Ahead of Monday's traffic filters announcement, we'd like to remind everyone that several traffic filters road are rarely busy, but do provide vital road links between neighbourhoods. It's Saturday lunchtime and this road is, as ever, quiet. The filter will operate every day.

Oxfordshire County Council does not serve the interests of Oxford. These proposals take no account of local communities, and they will result in hardship, misery, and unintended consequences as people divert around the toll gates to carry out their essential business.

We've been sent videos of Marston Ferry Road from today's morning rush hour (around 8.30), near the traffic filter / congestion charge location. The road is running freely. Cyclists and walker are safe in a separate path. There is no need to slap a £5 entry free on this road.

Fair headline from the Daily Mail It's helpful when a roster of ex Oxford Mail journalists keep putting Oxfordshire County Council idiocy in the national spotlight. Yesterday it was The Telegraph dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

The idea of £5 on Marston Ferry Rd & Hollow Way which are free flowing most of the day is totally indefensible. But Andrew Gant & Neil Fawcett 🏳️‍🌈🔶 know the LibDems would be booted out of Abingdon if they tried it there. Linda Smith Mark Lygo Mary Clarkson Susan Brown Esmé Kenney

Fun fact: daily traffic levels in the back yards of Oxfordshire's LibDem leaders are often higher than the roads in Oxford they want to slap a congestion charge on. So when's Abingdon getting a congestion charge, Neil Fawcett 🏳️‍🌈🔶 ? Or Bicester?

Oxfordshire indie city and county councillors Saj Malik on BBC Radio Oxford this morning. He points out OCC won't consider removing a real source of congestion (the LTNs) - or impose schemes in the backyards of deciding councillors where traffic is worse youtu.be/-j0REnb1aZc?si…

Nobody we've spoken to thinks the Congestion Charge is a good idea. The council needs to know just how unpopular it is and the best way to tell them is by filling in their consultation. It takes five minutes. letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/congestion-cha…

Oxford Clarion So a handful of unelected anti-car activists & private bus/taxi firms, set to profit 💰 from an Oxford City Centre road monopoly, outweigh the tens of thousands of us residents, businesses & workers facing Con Charge gridlock & misery in the suburbs & on the ring road #ConCharge

The Aberdeen bus gate legal challenge is interesting in relation to the "prioritise the interests of bus companies ahead of everyone else" issue. Eyes on for the court hearing in the autumn.

Missing in action - a "congestion emergency"in St Clement’s, 7.50am, at one of the proposed congestion charge site. Oxford's state schools are still in for a couple of weeks. Most private schools are on holiday until early September.

So someone with what the council would usually call 'lived experience', but in this case they'll call 'anti-council rhetoric' says Oxford's city centre isn't quite as healthy as OCC would have us believe. thisisoxfordshire.co.uk/news/25325680.…

Our tax is being used to pay a member of Extinction Rebellion who once glued her t**s to the road to tell Oxford hospital staff how they're allowed to travel to work (at a time when the NHS is finding it hard to recruit).

Oxford Clarion A restrictive & regressive car-free development reminiscent of 1970s communist urban planning, limiting residents' access & choice to work, amenities, and services. Anti-car zealots seem to ignore the historical failures of such restrictive policies in past communist societies.
