A publishing colleague is going through confusing and stressful layoffs. No matter how much a for-profit or nonprofit talks about how “we’re family”— they aren’t. In the end, HR departments care little about employee’s welfare, mostly only policies, profits, and their own jobs.

Special award goes to Édgar Valencia, who traveled the farthest for #EthicsinPublishing conference— Veracruz, MX!—and presenting on multilingualism not his native language and smashing it! ¡Felicidades, Edgar Alejandro! We also had virtual presentations from New Zealand and India!

Another thing we love is students or others giving their first ever public presentation, and seasoned publishing professionals delivering theirs, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which is which. All outstanding! #EthicsinPublishing
