Here is a diagram of a '6 Fr' vascular access sheath. Note that label is referring to the *inner* diameter here. The outer diameter is larger. In this case the '6 Fr' means that's what we can fit through the sheath. It is the *opposite* of how 'French' is used elsewhere.
