Hello! Here's an article I wrote in today's The Irish Times. 'The achievement of universal healthcare must be an absolutely central aim of all those who wish to bring about a decent and truly modern Irish society, fit for the next century.' Excellent first day at #PCDSI conference 2023. Most interesting slide was this crafty treatment for pyogenic granuloma. Photo consent given

Remember this picture every single time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam." This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s, via Urban Cycling Institute 🚲 . The cities we admire made better choices regarding cars, and are still making them today. Better choices instead of excuses.

This is a nice way to segregate a cycle lane from motorised traffic. It doesn't always have to be plastic wands. Local authorities, please take note!

Discharge summaries do not need to be done by doctors and would be better done by appropriately trained admin staff. It’s just transcribing and summarising notes from one place to another. You don’t need to have ever met the patient or been involved in their treatment.

It’s unfathomable how the ⁦⁦The Irish Times⁩ can report on how ⁦Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board⁩ & ⁦Charlie McConalogue⁩ are looking to dramatically increase export of one of the most carbon intense foods on the planet, beef, without even mentioning the #ClimateCrisis. irishtimes.com/business/2023/…

Said many a time before me: Waterford city core is streets ahead on public realm - the quality of design, materials used, shady trees, uncluttered streets, places to sit. But mainly it’s the sense that the city wants people to enjoy their public space, which is an absolute joy.

My response to inaccurate information which The Irish Times published on #prostatecancer & #screening was not accepted in Irish Times Letters. Given the gravity of publishing incorrect recommendations & the impact this has on men & front line GPs, it’s important to have the error documented.

'More than two-thirds of Galway’s workforce drive to work' This is failed urban planning at its worst. No SECOND ring road will fix this. What is needed is a complete rethink and a reallocation of space away from cars. connachttribune.ie/galway-commute…
