3/6 #BOUasm24 #Sesh1 To meet Net Zero targets global governments have committed to developing offshore wind farms in most near-shore seas (buff.ly/3YpPt5K for overview). In Europe, many more will be needed to phase out the ~44% of energy still produced from fossil fuels.

4/6 #BOUasm24 #Sesh1 The framework has been tested and proven by assessing the vulnerability of 29 populations of Anatidae to offshore wind farms whilst passing through the UK exclusive economic zone on migration. Populations migrating over the North Sea are most vulnerable.

5/6 #BOUasm24 #Sesh1 A novel uncertainty testing method allows for quantification of the impact data uncertainty has on the vulnerability ranking. For the Anatidae case study, the top five and bottom eight populations remain in those ranks even when uncertainty is accounted for.

6/6 #BOUasm24 #Sesh1 If the new framework is adopted, governments & planning authorities can more easily compare and contrast results across species groups and pressures, & target development more strategically across human borders, in harmony with natural migrant populations.
