Sussex at its best today. Picnic lunch. Had a swim. Now lounging around in the garden waiting for Wimbledon and a Spitfire flew directly overhead.

Ghost window: a spectral trace in brick and flint. Every now and then I come across a scene that is utterly beautiful but not intended to be so...here at St. Lawrence, Beeston St. Lawrence, Norfolk.

Why festivals matter - my piece for The Yorkshire Post on how classical music can thrive when it isn’t just something to listen to, but something to be part of.

I had the enormous privilege of interviewing Sir Roger Norrington twice. He was generous, warm and inspiring—and I spent *months* buzzing from it. He thought about everything SO deeply. #RIP ❤️

Very sad to learn of the death of Roger Norrington. He was a force of nature, a great pioneer and a great musician. “People are always giving answers in performances, but have they asked the questions?… I don’t accept authority unless I’ve found the evidence.” RIP

'This is absolutely entrancing—a recording that sensitively captures not merely the notes on the page but the very soul of Anglican worship music. Essential listening.’ David Hill Durham Cathedral Choir RSK Classical tinyurl.com/yhfddkku

Day 4 Gabrieli Roar. How to rehearse a hunting chorus?? Take the young tenor sectional rehearsal into the woods! (Next challenge..where to rehearse the drinking chorus 🤣)

🇬🇧 *British Music* I'm thrilled that my recording of ‘Meadow-Rest’ from Summer Idyls by Herbert Howells (1892–1983) features on Naxos Records new album British Classical Masterpieces. 🎶 I couldn’t agree more — it’s a gem of the repertoire! 🎹 Listen now:

I have poured my heart and soul into this talk for Three Choirs on Howells' Hymnus Paradisi. It truly is one of the most profound artistic statements on the loss of a child.
